Four Steps to making Spiritual Lemonade

by Dave on August 12, 2008

If you have a situation or problem that is bothering you, the best way to make it better is to make spiritual lemonade.

All of my life, I have heard that I should take the lemons that come into my life and make lemonade. But, until the last few years I did not know what that meant or how to do it.

I have found a recipe that works for me and thought that I would share it with you.

1. Shop for your ingredients (identify your lemon).

When we create a dish or a drink, we begin by getting the recipe that tells us to get the ingredients. So, the first thing is to pick out the lemon that is currently the one that is creating the biggest bad taste in my life.

2. Prepare the ingredients (open up the lemon and peel away the rind)

Next, the items that are to be use must be opened up (remove the egg shell, open the bag) so we can get down to the “meat” of the ingredient (core of the problem)

3. Mix the proper items per the recipe (add love and [tag]forgiveness[/tag])

Something that has been left out of all of the recipes that I have found in the past is love and forgiveness. If we are making lemonade, most people want it to be fairly sweet. These two items can sweeten any lemon.

4. Stir and chill (let it go)

Once the lemonade has been made, then it needs to be set aside to chill. It only gets better with age (setting aside or letting it go).

In the book “Zero Limits” by Joe Vitale, he references a way to add love and forgiveness to any situation. He suggests that we look at anything that causes us discomfort and say (either in our mind or out loud):

I am sorry

Please forgive me

Thank you

I love you

Doing this on a regular basis will make your life a lot better.

Here is how some others handle their load of lemons…

When ya got lemons, make lemonade… – We awoke this morning to a very chilly and cloudy August morning. After getting our chores, aka work at the Giftshop done, we decided to have a cool weather adventure. We went to the local “kids country” for a good time of kiddie rides …

Are You A Stumbling Block or a Stepping Stone? – I was the “life hands you lemons, make lemonade” person. But from each stumbling block, there was a lesson to be learned and I took the lesson with me and used it through my life whenever there was a need. …

To Make Lemonade….. – You need one willing volunteer. A smiling three year old will do. About six lemons (enough to make one cup of juice). And an electric juicer. If you don’t have one, get one now. I love mine. When I was pregnant with my girls, …

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. So to speak. – There’s a little gardening proverb that goes something like, “One for the birds, one for the weather, and one for yourself.” With that in mind, I planted six tomato plants in the one tiny patch of full sun that reaches my little Long …

Life is as good as I allow it to be
